The short version
Kept Evidence is a read-only archive. You cannot create an account here and we do not run advertising. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read; the details are below.
What is collected when you visit
Like every website, the servers that deliver these pages receive your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. Our hosting and network providers keep these technical logs for security and reliability. We do not combine them with anything else or use them to identify you.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they are. Google processes this data on our behalf. We have switched off Google signals and advertising personalization, we do not use the data for advertising, and we never try to identify individual visitors.
Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and similar) that last up to two years and distinguish one browser from another. For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are switched off: Google Analytics runs there without cookies and without storing an identifier on your device.
You can block Google Analytics everywhere with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or with any content blocker; the site works the same without it. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you email us
If you write to us — for example with a correction or a removal request — we keep your message and address for as long as needed to deal with the request and to keep a record of what we changed and why. We do not share it, except where the law requires us to.
People who appear in our reporting
Case pages and episodes describe real events using court records, official releases and published news reporting. That necessarily includes information about real people. We publish it for journalistic purposes and in the public interest, limit it to what the record supports, and follow the naming rules set out on our About page. If you are one of those people and want something corrected, blurred or removed, see Corrections & removal requests or write to corrections@keptevidence.com.
YouTube and podcast platforms
Our episodes are published on YouTube and on podcast platforms. When you watch or listen there, or play a YouTube video embedded on this site, that platform collects data under its own policy, not ours — for YouTube, the Google Privacy Policy.
Our publishing tools and YouTube API Services
We use an internal tool, operated only by us, that connects to our own YouTube channel through YouTube API Services to upload and schedule our videos, set their titles, descriptions, captions and thumbnails, and read our channel’s own performance statistics. The tool is not offered to the public and does not access, collect or store any other person’s YouTube account data. Channel statistics obtained through the API are refreshed or deleted within 30 days. Use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Access granted to the tool can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. Write to privacy@keptevidence.com and we will respond.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
